Enjoy up close encounters and learn about native wildlife at Lake Erie Nature & Science Center.
Lake Erie Nature & Science Center is home to more than 65 live animals including mammals, raptors, reptiles, amphibians, and fish. Our live animal programs help to encourage public awareness of the importance of native animals with whom we share our natural environment. We offer a variety of live animal programs for all ages, from 30-minute encounters to behind-the-scenes experiences.
Animal Programs
Wonders of Wildlife
For all ages
Learn about the wonders of wildlife through up close encounters with a variety of the Center’s resident animals.
Fee: $5/person. Children 6 months and under are free.
Wild Encounters
For ages 8 and up with one adult
Get up close with the animals! In a small group setting, meet our resident animals, engage in unique activities, and make connections to remember! Learn from our wildlife specialists on what it takes to care for our animals, then help a little yourself in this 1-hour program.
Fee: $75. Adult chaperone is required and included in program cost.
Feed the Animals
For ages 8 and up with one adult
Work alongside our wildlife staff to prepare food, treats and enrichment for our resident animals. Then offer them what you’ve made! As we focus on nutrition and diets in this behind-the-scenes, small group program, plan to have awesome and close interactions with our animals.
Fee: $100. Adult chaperone is required and included in program cost.
Junior Keeper
For ages 8 and up with one adult
In this 2.5-hour program, you will have the unique opportunity to work alongside our wildlife staff and experience first-hand how we care for our resident animals. Behind the scenes, you will learn about native and domestic animals while providing food, clean housing and training. There will be plenty of photo opportunities and close encounters with our animals!
Fee: $175. Adult chaperone is required and included in program cost.
Hawk Walk
For all ages
Take a walk with a hawk! In this 45-minute program, meet our resident Red-tailed hawk, Sequoia, and learn about these awesome raptors. Then hike with our Wildlife Specialist through the trails to search for hawks in the wild. Come dressed for the weather and slightly rough terrain.
Fee: $10/person.
Refund Policy: Notification is required one week prior to the start of a program to be eligible for a refund. A service fee of 5% will be applied to all refunds. Please note there are no refunds for missed classes and make-up classes are not provided.
